Harry Potter
I know this might be a little weird since this is a fashion blog, but I just wanted to let you know that I love Harry Potter. If I ever get a chance to meet J.K Rowling again, I will thank her for writing such creative and fun books that literally completed my life. I was very young when Harry Potter was introduced to the world, and became the most popular series in the world. I think I was in 3rd grade when the the 7th and last book came out. I actually won a writing competition in the 3rd grade, and I got to go to Carnegie Hall to meet J.K Rowling and get an autographed copy of, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". It's really such a shame that Harry Potter is no more. The years flew by so fast. Can you imagine what J.K Rowling must be feeling right now? Or the actors from the Harry Potter movies? I bet no one even thought for a second that Harry Potter would be such a hit, but look at it now. People can't seem to stop talking about it. Thousands of fans had lined up for each and every premiere or Harry Potter based events. Some have even waited outside in the rain, for days just waiting for the stars to arrive. There's not one person in the entire world that hasn't heard of Harry Potter.
I admit that I am obsessed with Harry Potter. I have read all the books and watched all the movies multiple times, I watch interviews on youtube all about the Harry Potter stars on a regular basis, and I read and write Harry Potter fan-fiction. For those who don't know what fan-fiction is, it's fictional stories that fans write based on popular series and things like that. My obsession has become out of control. I literally can't sleep without watching clips of the films, or reading passages from the stories.
This point of everyone's life has become very emotional. Harry Potter is over. Its hard to believe. The actors such as Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe, grew up with Harry Potter. Looking back at the old films just shocks you. Tom Felton who was twelve when he started Harry Potter, is turning 24 this year! It's unbelievable. They were all so young when they started, and it's strange seeing them all as adults now.
I recently went to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows with my friends. We of course, all dressed up as some of the characters. I was Cho Chang, and my best friend was Luna Lovegood. It was a fun experience, and I am glad that I went!
At the London premiere of the last movie, nearly everyone was in tears. Every speech given at the event was just so moving. Just as Daniel (a.k.a Harry Potter) said, Everyone who has followed the Harry Potter films for the last 10 years, will carry this amazing story through the rest of their lives.

Traveling!!!
I'm finally blogging again!! Hurray!! I know what you are thinking...Why can't Gabby blog on a weekly basis so that we can catch up on what Gabby is up to these days? Trust me, I ask myself the same exact question all the time. But yet I go online daily, and tell myself that I will post something on blog, and then I just don't. Hopefully in the future I will become a better blogger.
Anyways, I went to Spain in April. It was for a school trip, and I am so glad that I submitted my application on time. Obviously, the language teachers at my school can't take the entire eighth grade. So, the teachers narrow it down to 8th graders who take Spanish as their second language class, students who earn an 85 or above in Spanish, and of course students who are trustworthy and well behaved. You also had to write an essay of 500 words, explaining why you should go on the Spain trip. Fortunately I was chosen, and before I knew it, I was already on a plane headed to Europe.
I paid special attention to the fashion there. As my class and I walked down Las Ramblas, I took lots of pictures of clothing pieces that stood out to me, or gave me inspiration. Sadly my camera deleted basically all of my good photos, but I bought some things that I really liked while in Spain.....
I am actually going back to Spain is less than 2 weeks, and I am really excited! This time, I will be sure to post some pictures of all the great places I got a chance to visit and of course the fashion!!

Another Class at parsons!!! and High School stuff....
I know it seems that I have abandoned this blog.........But I haven't. I am taking another course at Parsons, and it's going great. I'm taking fashion design, which is what I want my career to be. My friend, Faye is in my parsons class once again, and we are both good in the arts.
There is one girl in my class who is amazingly good, when it comes to Fashion. She's my age, french, and obviously she will get far in Fashion. Although I don't know her name, she seems nice. She's considered a friend but, still my competition ;D
Classes are on Saturday. We start at 10 a.m, and end at 1 p.m. We do things like sketching, and painting. We aren't doing so much because it's only the beginning but, soon we will be sewing and designing and creating our very own garments to display at parsons. During classes, we often talk about who we are as designers and our aesthetics. I always have something to say.
Lately, i've been really busy because of high school admissions. I've spent weeks, studying for the SHSAT (Specialized high school admissions test) exam, and the Bard high school test. I finally took the SHSAT exam today at, Brooklyn Technical High school at 7:30 a.m!!! It was a zoo. I was constantly being pushed around by both adults and students. One of the teachers flashed a very strong light in my face, and gave me a bad look when I waved at one of my friends. All of the testing is over but, I still have to work on my portfolio, write some essays, get recommendations, go to tours and attend interviews. Ugh, so much work!!! It's like applying to middle school all over again except this time, its not middle school....IT'S HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parsons: school of design summer art class!
Last week, I started an art class at Parsons. I'm taking the painting and drawing course and so far, it's been great. I've developed some great pieces for my portfolio for applying to high school, class is relaxing and I've made two great friends named Faye and Lucia.
Classes start at 9:00 a.m on weekdays. I feel so grown up when I am asked to show my parsons ID when as I enter the building. My class sadly only lasts two weeks, I really don't want it to end!!!!!
My first day at parsons was crazy! I hauled around a huge portfolio that was bigger then me! It contained my canvas pad, news print pad, sketch book (small), white paper pad, pallet paper pad, and paint pallet. I also had a tool box that had all my paint, linseed oil, galked oil, pencils, charcoal, and eraser. During the parsons orientation, some of the teachers there handed out parsons tote bags. I carried it around all the time but unfortunately, I got oil paint all over it and it looks like a disaster. The inside of the bag, is even worse.
I would arrive home covered in oil paint which isn't easy to get off clothing. I destroyed two shirts so, I finally started wearing big and old t-shirts owned by my dad so that I wouldn't ruin my clothing. I have no idea how but, sometimes I end up with paint down my shirt or on my eye brows. It's weird, I know.
My new friends are great. We are always laughing together and being weird. All three of us are both talented and awesome. We all have lockers next to each other and we sit together all in one row in class. I'm going to miss them both when our parsons class is over this Friday. Lucia goes back to Mexico and Faye doesn't live as close to me as I though she did. But what ever, we are all Facebook friends!!
This Friday is my exhibition. It's going to be great I can't wait for everyone to see my work! Too bad that Friday is my last day of parsons though. Hopefully, I can go back in the fall. This time, I will take fashion design because as everyone knows, I want to be a fashion designer when I grow up.

7/27/10 Fashion design internship
Today was so awesome! Laurieanne let me get my own lunch today, and sent me to starbucks to get coffee for her, and Terra. I got to organize bins and binders, I helped rearrange Laurieanne's work space, put tags on garments, made photo copies, sketched, labeled things, grabbed things from racks, and I even got to name some of the clothing. I was in charge of writing all of the names down on paper. Brooke would hold up a piece of clothing and together, we would name the clothing. Everyone would give in ideas.
At the end of the day, Laurieanne sent me to the back of the studio where a bunch of boxes were. She said I could pick something that I like but, I like everything! Most of the clothing were big on me but, i've chosen 3 so far that I like and will try on next time I go to work, which will be thursday :)

My fashion designing future :)
I'm glad that I am an intern for a fashion designer. I'm learning a lot about the fashion world. When I grow up, I want to be a fashion designer. So, being and intern and getting started on my career early is great. I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was young but, then I began focussing more on visual arts like drawing and painting. Then a while later, my dad took me to a fashion photo shoot and I automatically got inspired and came back to the idea of becoming a fashion designer. I love fashion, and I enjoy dressing up all fancy like where ever I go.
I was also inspired by my mom. Her fashion illustrations are beyond fabulous and I sometimes practice and warm up before I draw by looking at her work at her website. My dad and aunt are involved in the fashion business too. My dad is photographer and sometimes takes pictures of Laurieanne Gilner's work. My aunt is a graphic designer, and I sometimes come to work with her and help out!
